Jewish heritage

Budapest has the biggest Jewish community in Middle - Eastern Europe, with an active religious, artistic and historical heritage. Through centuries the Hungarian and Jewish history has been so entwined that it is almost inseparable. Jews played and play an important role in the country’s economical, cultural and political life.

Our company was created in 1995 and since then we try to show our visitors the Hungarian and Jewish culture in our country. Our English speaking guides are well trained, and have the necessary qualification to help you understand the Jewish past and present in Hungary and in Budapest. Our tours are in two (English and German) language, and we try to keep the sightseeing tours with small groups of people. To customize your needs we prepared three types of heritage tours.

Essential Tour (1,5-2 hours)

The Basic Jewish Heritage Tour

Those who are short of time can take our 1,5- 2 hour Jewish Heritage Essential Tour. With the help of our English/German speaking guides you will be acquainted with the most important chapters of the history and culture of the Hungarian Jewry.

The tour includes an interior visit to the Dohány Street Synagogue, which is the largest in Europe and local guided tour in the Jewish Museum, which has an important and unique collection of art pieces from Hungary and Eastern Europe. After the synagogue we visit the Martyrs’ Cemetery where thousands were buried, who were killed in the Ghetto. We continue our tour in The Raoul Wallenberg Memorial Park with the Tree of Life which was created to remind us of those, who perished in the Holocaust. We will pass by the Heroes’ temple, built in memory of the Jewish soldiers who gave their lives for Austria-Hungary during the WWI. After the tour it is possible to visit the Jewish Centre with exhibitions about Jewish history.

Further important information:

At the end of the tour you will be given a Jewish Centre entrance ticket. These tickets are valid for one entry during next 24 hours.  If you would like to go back the next day to the Jewish Centre, please keep your ticket and show it at the entrance gate.

 Free date Gift Voucher

Give the gift of an unforgettable experience!

We give you the opportunity to surprise your loved ones with a wonderful experience by purchasing a free date ticket for them to use whenever they like.

It gets harder and harder to smile when we unwrap the umpteenth pair of socks or some other similarly unimaginative gift. Holidays, birthdays and anniversaries shouldn't be about hastily purchasing a predictable gift for our friends and family. In the past few decades studies have suggested that the joy one feels when receiving material presents, even if they are the long desired smart phone or a super expensive pair of designer shoes, doesn't last very long, especially when compared to experience gifts.

We offer you the opportunity to give the gift of our program that the recipient may enjoy at a time of his or her choosing within in a year. We request that ticket holders let us know a short time beforehand when we can expect them!
